DATA SCIENTIST

Job Overview:

We are looking for an experienced data scientist to provide daily insights. The ideal candidate will possess strong mathematical and statistical skills, along with natural curiosity and creative thinking. This individual will be responsible for mining, interpreting, and cleaning our data, while also asking the right questions, connecting the dots, and uncovering hidden opportunities to fully leverage the data's potential.


Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with product design and engineering teams to understand their needs.

  • Research and create innovative statistical models for data analysis.

  • Present findings to all stakeholders.

  • Drive smarter business processes by leveraging analytics to generate meaningful insights.

  • Stay up to date with technical advancements and industry trends.

  • Identify and integrate new datasets that can enhance our product capabilities, collaborating closely with the engineering team in developing data products.

  • Conduct analytical experiments to address challenges across various domains and industries.

  • Identify relevant data sources to support client business needs, gathering large structured and unstructured datasets and variables.

  • Develop and apply algorithms and models to mine big data stores, performing data and error analysis to refine models, and ensuring data is clean and accurate.

  • Analyze data for trends and patterns, interpreting it with clear objectives in mind.

  • Collaborate with software developers and machine learning engineers to implement analytical models in production.

  • Capacity Planning: Analyze system usage patterns to predict future growth, optimize capacity, and ensure scalability.  

  • Collaboration: Work closely with software engineering, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to design reliable architecture and improve operational workflows.  

  • Continuous Improvement: Regularly evaluate current processes and systems, identifying areas for improvement and implementing enhancements.

Required Skills/Qualifications/Duty Experience

Essential:  

  • Seven or more years of experience in data science

  • Proficiency with data mining, mathematics, and statistical analysis

  • Advanced experience in pattern recognition and predictive modeling

  • Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, SQL, and programming languages (ex: Java/Python, SAS)

  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, research-oriented group that has several concurrent projects

  • Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in statistics, applied mathematics, or related discipline


Preferred:  

  • Two or more years of project management experience

  • Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Engineer).  

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams.


Security Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain a TS/SCI clearance at time of hire


Education/Certification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in statistics, applied mathematics, or related discipline


Travel: 

  • Ability to travel as needed, estimate less than 25%
